Great article. I appreciate how you weave myth, metaphor, power, the personal and the political into this piece. Coincidentally, (ancient) Iran contributed to the development of geometry and is credited with developing algebra. Now, is there an algebra of war to ponder?
I get what you’re saying in the context of your paradigm. However, it seems quite a leap to credit Iran with a circular energy/stance in contrast to the U.S. patriarchal blunt force phallic aggression. My take is that the
Iranian leadership’s mentality or strategy is not a holistic fusion or balance of energies but it’s charged with a different kind of fierceness that’s infused with religious fervor and rigid adherence Internally, it defends its autonomy with the highest level of patriarchal brute force - (huge numbers of young people are being senselessly killed (according to the reports my Iranian student receives). Clearly, all the people who govern with absolute power use the playbook of the patriarchal model - albeit with distinctions related to the cultural ground they stand on. And that’s why perhaps there is some elemental circular maneuvering built into the Iranian leadership misogynistic template, but without a mindful or conscious trajectory that leads back to the heart - of what benefit is that circle?

Gives me hope
Dearest Suzin,
